Kundalini Yoga kriyas are exercise sets that build strength and unlock our spiritual world. If you’re new to this path, you may be looking for some kriya tips to help you. Here are some of the key points to keep in mind.
Tip #1: Listen to Your Body
One of the best kriya tips is to listen to your body. Kundalini Yoga is all about awareness and understanding what works for you. When you’re doing any exercise set, you should pay close attention to how you feel.
It may take you some time to get used to this approach. However, the more you tune into yourself and put the focus on how each move feels, the more it will become a habit. In time it will become second nature.
Tip #2: Hydrate Yourself
Hydration is always important for your everyday health and wellness. When you’re engaging in a kriya, though, make sure that you have a bottle of water to hand. You may find that you need to drink water between sets.
When we talk about how to enhance your kriya, you should never overlook the impact that hydration has. Should you find any of the exercises particularly strenuous, you may find that it helps to hydrate yourself.
Tip #3: Go Beyond Your Boundaries
As you first get started on your Kundalini Yoga journey, you will want to take things slowly. Learning at your own pace is all a part of the process and will help you get to grips with this beautiful and effective practice.
As you become more comfortable with kriyas, you can start to push your limits. Don’t allow yourself to be confined by any mental boundaries. Instead, keep moving forward and going as far as feels comfortable.
Tip #4: Speak Up
When you are in a class situation, be sure to speak up. If there’s anything that is not 100% clear to you, you can always ask your teacher to give you some help or advice. Don’t be shy about asking questions.
Tip #5: Time Every Move
Timing is a crucial part of Kundalini Yoga. The truth of the matter is that each move has to be precise in every aspect, including how long you engage with it. Don’t make the mistake of ignoring this part of your practice.
When it comes to how to enhance your kriya, consider researching each set in-depth before you get started. That way, you will already have a clear view of how long the session should take and what moves it entails.
Tip #6: Customize Your Practice
If you are a woman, it may help to customize your practice according to the moon and your menstrual cycle. During the heaviest part of your period, you may not want to engage in any difficult aspects of Kundalini Yoga.
Over the course of these one-to-three days, you may wish to avoid the Breath of Fire, Camel Pose, Locust Pose, Stretch Pose, Root Lock, and Sat Kriya among others. Figure out what works best for your body.
