How to do This Kriya
Do you want to strengthen and expand your aura? Fortunately, the Sodarshan Chakra Kriya is a smart place to start. If you’re practicing Kundalini Yoga for beginners, you can still try this particular sequence for yourself. However, you may want to begin with 5-minute sessions, rather than 11-minute practices. Here’s what you should know.
Posture
Start by sitting in Easy Pose or whatever position feels comfortable for you. Ensure that your back is straight and apply a gentle Neck Lock.
Eyes
Unlike many other meditation kriyas, this one is done with your eyes 1/10 open. The focus should be on the tip of your nose.
Breathing & Mantra
Step 1: First of all, use your thumb to block the right nostril. When you have done so, breathe in deeply through your left nostril. Hold your breath and repeat the mantra Wha-Hay Gu-Roo 16 times in your mind.
As you chant this mantra, you will need to pull your navel in. On the ‘wha’ word, bring your navel in a third. Next, on the ‘hay’ word, bring it in a third more. On the ‘gu-roo’ word, you should bring your navel in the whole way.
Step 2: When you have completed the 16 repetitions, unblock the right nostril then use your right index finger to block your left nostril. Breathe out through the right nostril with the left nostril closed.
Timing
Alternate between step one and step two for between 11 and 31 minutes.
To finish
When you want to bring the meditation to an end, doing so is simple enough. Breathe in deeply and hold your breath for between 5 and 10 seconds. Reach your arms straight upward and shake your body for a minute. This will allow the energy to spread rapidly.
