How to do this Meditation
Ready to try this calming meditation practice for yourself? The first step is to find a quiet place where you can relax and engage in this activity. When you have done that, you simply need to follow this guide and focus on finding your inner calm.
Start by sitting in Easy Pose, or any position that feels comfortable to you. Your spine should be straight throughout this meditation.
Your hands should be in your lap. Keep your palms up with the right hand resting on the left. The tips of your thumbs should be touching.
Ensure that your eyes are closed throughout the meditation.
Repeat the mantra ‘Wahe Guru Wahe Jio’ eight times in one breath, chanting in a monotone voice
The mantra should be pronounced ‘Whaa-Hay Guroo Whaa-Hay Guroo Whaa-Hay Guroo Whaa-Hay Jee-o’. Wahe Guru is an expression of complete ecstatic awe of the Divine. Wahe Jio – Great Beyond Description is the experience of God Blessing the Soul.
The cycle of breath should take around 45 seconds. You will need to release the breath at a slow pace while repeating the mantra eight times.
When you first start out, if you may find it challenging to repeat the mantra 8 times in one breath, don’t panic. Simply stop and start again. The more you practice, the more capacity you will have.
If you are new to this meditation, you should start with an 11-minute session. The more you practice, the longer you can hold this particular session.
When you have mastered the 11-minute session, increase to 22 minutes. After that, you can later increase to the full meditation session of 33 minutes.
