Complete Guide: Which Incense to Use to Balance Each Chakra
Your chakras control how you feel and experience the world around you. As you move forward on your Kundalini Journey, it’s important to keep each of them in perfect balance.
You may already be well-versed in the power of incense but did you know it can help balance your chakras? In this guide, we will take a look at which to use for each chakra.
1. Cedar for the Root Chakra
Linked to the earth and grounding yourself, the aptly-named root chakra is immensely powerful. When it is out of balance, however, you will start to feel as though you don’t know yourself. Your sense of self will become diminished and you will feel small.
Feeling overwhelmed? There are yoga poses and lifestyle changes you can make to help you along this journey. However, you may also want to incorporate some incense into your everyday practice. Using either cedar or sandalwood in your routine is effective.
These woody and earthy aromas speak directly to the root chakra. You may wish to burn them while you are meditating or when engaging in either mountain or tree pose.
2. Honey for Sacral Chakra
The colors orange and yellow symbolize the sacral chakra. It should come as no surprise that the incense we recommend using is honey. At once intensely rich but also fragrant and sweet, this scent is perfect for balancing this sexual-centric chakra.
No matter where you are in your personal Kundalini Yoga journey, you can use this incense as part of your practice. Should you find that your sacral chakra is out of balance, you will lose your sexual desire and feel undesirable yourself. It’s time to change that.
You may want to light some honey incense when you are preparing for bed, for example. In addition, some yogis find it useful to light this type of incense when they are in the ever-strong and powerful goddess pose. Figure out what works for you and your routine.
3. Jasmine for the Solar Plexus Chakra
How powerful do you feel today? You gain your own sense of security and control from the miraculous solar plexus chakra. Linked to the color yellow, when this chakra is out of balance, you will experience a number of unwelcome emotions and feelings.
Often enough, those who have a weakened solar plexus will lack the self-esteem that they need. You might find that your confidence levels naturally dip. This problem can lead to being painfully shy, continually tired in social interactions, or having low moods.
One of the ways to balance the chakra is to use either jasmine or mandarin in your practice. When you are saying your morning affirmations to lift your mood and energy levels, you can use incense sticks. Light them and breathe in a newfound perspective.
4. Rose for the Heart Chakra
Are you lacking a sense of compassion? Often enough, when people find it hard to show a little empathy, it’s because their heart chakra is out of balance. You may find it difficult to connect with people emotionally and show them that you care — even though you do.
You can use rose incense to help you balance this chakra. As you might imagine, the subtle, floral scent of roses works naturally with the heart chakra. When you are meditating, you may find that it is helpful to light a stick of incense and set up a vibe.
5. Frankincense for the Throat Chakra
Communication is the key to all human relationships. However, when your throat chakra is out of balance, you will find it hard to speak up. If advocating for yourself has become more and more difficult, it’s time to take charge and do something productive.
Within the realms of Kundalini Yoga, there’s a wealth of technology at your fingertips. You may choose to adopt the lion pose or plow pose, for example. Another approach you may choose to explore is using frankincense as part of your everyday yogic routine.
Simply having the incense alight in your home will make a huge difference. You may prefer a more targeted approach. In that case, you can light the incense as you start to meditate.
6. Sage for the Third Eye Chakra
Associated with indigo and purple, the third eye is the center of your imagination and intuition. All of your dreams, goals, and future plans are tied up in it. So, as you might already have guessed, when it is out of balance, it can change your entire outlook.
If you want to use incense in your Kundalini Yoga practice at this time, you should try sage. The earthy and beautiful aroma of this scent can bring you out of yourself. While it won’t automatically balance your chakra, it will go a long way toward helping do so.
7. Myrrh for the Crown Chakra
Related to the color violet and the universal identity, the crown chakra is immensely important. It plays a vital role in your cosmic journey, and so you need to honor it as best you can. When it is out of balance, you may start to feel weak and unwell physically.
At this time, you should use myrrh incense in your everyday yoga routine. If you are engaging in either a headstand or the rabbit pose, you may find that this aroma helps to further your experience. Light it in a place where you feel comfortable and calm.
8. Rue for the Aura
Also known as the electromagnetic field, you cannot overlook the intense power of the aura. Much like a shield, it protects you from all of the negativity that can surround you. If you feel that your emotions are highly influenced by those around you, it is out of balance.
Rue has numerous health benefits and can help to balance your electromagnetic field. Should you feel that you no longer have the protection that you need, use this incense. You can light it when you are meditating or use it when you engage in kriyas.
Protecting your auric shield is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Look at ways that you can enhance it and strengthen it by tapping into the unique power of Kundalini Yoga.
