How to do this Kriya
Make sure you have a comfortable place in which to practice. You may decide to lay down a yoga mat in a quiet room before you get started. Follow these simple steps:
Position:
When you have done the above, get into a seated position that suits you. Your back should be straight. Bring your chin in toward the body, and stick your chest out.
Eyes:
Your eyes need to be slightly open while you are completely practicing this kriya. Focus all of your attention on the tip of your nose. Look slightly downward to do so.
Hand position:
Bring your hands into Prayer Pose. That means that every part of the hands meet one another in the center. Your fingers should touch in the middle as should your palms.
Take a moment to ensure that you have this mudra right. Your fingers need to be stretched upward toward the sky and you should have a firm but gentle level of pressure here.
Arm position:
Your hands need to be in front of the Solar Plexus. Ensure that they are not touching your chest. Your forearms need to be parallel to the ground as you practice.
Chant:
When you are ready to begin the chanting portion of the kriya, first take a deep breath. Then repeat ‘Humee Hum Brahm Hum’. This translates to ‘We are We, We are God.’
When you are repeating the chant, you should enunciate every word. Use the tip of your tongue as your mouth moves. That will make the sound clear and super strong.
Hand movement:
As you chant the words above, you should pulse your hands in a heartbeat-esque motion. That means that they press together in the rhythm of the words. You should also draw your Navel Point inward in sync with both the pulse of your hands and the rhythm of the chant.
Each time that you repeat the mantra, you should pulse twice at the Navel Point. Next, you need to pull the Navel Point inward on the ‘Humee Hum’ and again on the ‘Brahm Hum.’
Timing:
Continue with this Kundalini Yoga kriya for between three and 11 minutes.
To finish:
When you are ready to conclude the kriya, breathe in and pull the navel up and in. Move the tip of your tongue to the upper palate and focus. Breathe out. Repeat twice.
