How to do this Kriya
Ready to get started with this protective kriya? If so, you need to find a quiet space in which to practise. You should lay down a good quality yoga mat and clear the area. Next, when you want to begin, follow our easy step-by-step guide below:
Step 1: Easy Pose
Start by sitting in Easy Pose, or whichever position feels comfortable to you.
Step 2: Mudra
Next, bring the top of your thumb to touch the top of your index finger. Make sure the rest of your fingers are almost completely relaxed.
Step 3: Eye position
You should close your eyes while you are doing this kriya.
Step 4: Arm movement
Next, bring your arms out at the sides and tilt your hands up so that your palms are facing forward. You must keep your elbows as straight as you can. Begin to chant “Har”. Use the tip of your tongue as you make a strong sound.
Step 5: Hand movement
When you are ready, move your hands in front of you with your palms down. Ensure that your elbows are by your sides while your forearms are straight outward. When you have assumed this position, chantthe “Haray” sound.
Step 6: Hands up
When you have completed step five, raise your hands so that they are next to your shoulders. Allow the palms to face outwards. Chant the “Haree” sound now.
Step 7: Arm stretch
Stretch your arms so that they are out by your sides once again. When you have taken on that position, you should chant the “Wah” sound.
Step 8: Arms forward
Move your arms once again so that they are pointing forward. Make sure that the palms are facing downward. Now, chant the “He” sound.
Step 9. Hands by shoulders
Finally, move your hands again so that they are up by your shoulders. When you are in that position, you can now chant “Guroo”.
Step 10: End
To bring the kriya set to an end, breathe in and hold your breath for 15-20 seconds. Your arms should be in the same position. Then, breathe out completely. Repeat this twice.
You can use this kriya whenever you feel that you need some protection. There are plenty of ways in which you can integrate it into your everyday life. Now that you have learned it, come back to it whenever you need to. It is always here to keep you safe and secure.
