It is said that we can tell a lot about a person by looking closely at their skin. We can see their anger and pain, the effects of nutrition and wellness, and even their happiness, all by focussing on the largest organ of the body.
Unfortunately, this means that negative emotions and experiences are also carried on our skin, and clear for the world to see. When wondering how to get perfect skin, it’s important to look at the root of problems, and not just try to fix the symptoms.
In this case, skin can usually be improved by eating a balanced, healthy diet, staying hydrated, and removing tension and anger from our lives. In this post we will look at how to use Kundalini yoga to improve your skin by removing the effects of long-term stress and anxiety.
Benefits of this Kriya
A Kundalini yoga kriya is, in essence, a routine of movements designed to aid the connection between the spiritual and physical self, and promote relaxation and self reflection.
The different kriyas enable us to engage with different elements of ourselves and target problems we face. The main goal of this particular kriya is to bring about a natural, radiant glow in the skin, but the other benefits include:
- Improved optimism and positive world view
- Reduced effects of stress and anxiety
- Better quality sleep and relaxation
- Improved self-confidence
How to do this Kriya
To perform this simple kriya, start by sitting on the floor in a peaceful place with your legs stretched out in front of you. Allow your arms to fall to your sides, hands touching the floor.
Ensuring that your heels maintain contact with the floor, bend and raise the left knee so it creates a right-angle. As you lower the left knee, simultaneously bend and raise the right knee. Keep alternating the left and right knee raises for three minutes.
