There’s no rulebook when it comes to parenting. You want to raise a smart, independent, and happy person. Equally, you want your child to have an understanding and respect for the universe and the divine.
However, it can be tough to know what’s for the best. Fortunately, there are some effective yogic parenting tips to help you along the way. If you need a helping hand, read our simple guide to parenting here.
Three Years and Under
Develop a consistent routine
One of the best yogic parenting tips is to develop a consistent routine from an early age. By doing so, you give your child an inner sense of security and stability. For example, you should ensure that meals, baths, and bedtimes remain the same for long periods. That way, your child knows what to expect.
Support your child’s needs
It’s important to support your child’s emotional, physical, and mental needs from an early age. Ensure that they are always comfortable and have what they need. When your child learns that these things are always a given, it gives them a solid foundation on which to build their sense of self identity.
Create a relationships
Of course, the early years are fundamental to your child’s development. During this period, you should make sure that you create a solid bond with your child. There are plenty of ways you can do this. For example, you may choose to meditate with your little one or start to introduce them to Kundalini Yoga.
Between Three and Seven
Establish a daily practice
Between the ages of three and seven, your child will start to understand the world and—with luck—the universe. It is at this time that you should start to establish a daily practice with them. Incorporate small yogic practices into their day-to-day routine so they get used to the experience.
Use storytelling to teach
Small children tend to think with their hearts rather than their heads. That means that they find it hard to follow directions or listen to instructions. One of the best yogic parenting tips is to use the art of storytelling to share important life lessons with your child.
Between Seven and Eleven
Lead by example
When your child reaches age seven, they start to develop their self-perception. This is where you come into the equation. Your child will learn by following your example. Show your child that you have a high sense of self-confidence and awareness. In doing so, you will start to share these empowering traits with them.
Encourage their intelligence
As your child reaches age eleven, they complete their first Cycle of Intelligence. At this point, your child is starting to learn how to foster and apply their intelligence. For that reason, you must do all that you can to support this journey. Give them the time and effort they need to move forward with their learning.
