How to do this Meditation
Want to give this meditation a whirl? Find a quiet space in which to practice and make sure that you will not be disturbed. When you’re ready, try the following:
Position:
You should start this particular meditation in Easy Pose, or whichever seated pose suits you. Make sure you are comfortable and that your back is as straight as possible.
Hand position:
When you have sat down, the next step is to adopt the well-known Gyan Mudra.
The hand position means that your hands are separate with each hand resting, palm facing upward, on the corresponding knee.
For each hand, you should bring the tip of your index finger toward the tip of your thumb. That move creates the circle shape with which most of us are highly familiar.
Your other three fingers will be pointing straight upward. Keep each of them in-line with the next one. Your hands can rest softly on the knees with your arms somewhat relaxed.
Eye position:
Next up, your eyes should be nine parts closed and focus on the tip of your nose. If you are new to this meditation, it may take you some time to grasp this part of the process.
While your eyes may appear to be closed from the outside, the truth is that they will be one-part open. You will not be able to see completely — instead, everything is a blur.
Mantra:
As part of this meditation, you will be chanting the mantra: “Wha Hay Guroo, Wha Hay Guroo, Wha Hay Guroo, Wha Hay Jeeo.”
Timing:
When you have followed all of the above steps and began chanting, you can continue for around 31 minutes.
To finish:
When you are ready to finish, breathe in and stay in the same position as you do so. You should start Long Deep Breathing and continue for three minutes exactly.
Next, breathe in deeply, keep your spine straight, and then squeeze your whole body. As you do this, you will naturally create an electromagnetic field that is strong and secure.
Hold that position firmly, and then do a Cannon Breath out — i.e. Breathe out strongly through your mouth. Repeat this process two more times and then relax.
