Sadhana is a beautiful and sacred personal practice. To engage in it, you must rise in the early ambrosial hours of the morning. While some of us find this natural, others may struggle to get up. Luckily, there are some simple sadhana tips that you can use to help you along the way.
1. Focus on Sadhana Benefits
Rising early in the morning can be tough if you forget why you are doing so. What is it that you gain from this experience? The night before you are set to get up, take a moment to make a mental note of the benefits.
Recalling the true reason that you practice sadhana could make all the difference. When you are clear on the rewards you will reap, it could make a colossal difference to how you feel when the time comes to awaken.
If you need some extra encouragement to get you moving, why not take the time to write down these benefits. Clearly stating what you hope to gain from the experience will help you prioritize it above extra sleep.
2. Speak to Your Community
You are not alone. The Kundalini Yoga community is as vast as it is varied. When you’re struggling with a certain aspect of your practice, there are plenty of people out there on whom you can rely for support and help.
You may want to join Facebook pages or find a following online. Having trusted people who you can reach out to could make all the difference to how you feel. Share your experiences and gain some advice.
3. Keep a Daily Journal
Finding it hard to wake up in the early mornings? Remember that this is a process. It may not happen magically overnight. Instead, you need to keep moving forward and trying even when it gets challenging.
One of the best sadhana tips you will get is to keep a daily journal. At times, it can feel as though you’re making no progress whatsoever. That is tough, but it may not be the truth of the matter. Not the whole truth.
When you start journaling, you will see that there is a pattern here. You may notice that you find it harder to wake up early on certain days more than others. See what you can learn from your experiences here.
4. Share the Experience
Finding it hard to wake up early alone? While sadhana is a personal practice, the experience of rising in the morning is one that you can share with a loved one. You may want to enlist the help of your partner here.
Alternatively, some people find that it is easier to wake up when they have an animal by their side. You may find that getting your pet to get up when you do is the answer. Figure out what works for you on a personal level.
