- How to Do This Kriya
Ready to boost your self-love? The following kriya is suitable for students of all levels. Keep in mind that some of the breathing techniques are advanced. For that reason, you may need to adapt it for your session. Here is what you need to do to get started:
Step 1: The Self-Blessing
Start by sitting in Easy Pose or whatever position feels comfortable for you.
Hands and arms:
Take your right palm and hold it above your head. It should be between six and nine inches above you. The palm should face downward as it is blessing you.
Next, the left elbow should be bent with the forearm near the rib cage. The palm should be facing outward as it is blessing the world.
Your eyes should be closed as you focus on the lunar center in the middle of your chin.
Start by breathing long, slow, and deeply. As you do so, focus on feelings of self-love. Attempt to breathe just one breath per minute.
You can inhale for 20 seconds, hold for 20 seconds, and exhale for 20 seconds. (If you are new to the practice, this may be hard. Shorten the length so that it suits you!)
After 11 minutes, breathe in deeply and then move into the second step of this Kundalini Yoga kriya set.
Step 2: The Arm Stretch
Start by extending both of your arms in front of you. They should be parallel to the floor with your palms also facing downward. Stretch your arms out as much as possible.
Keep your eyes focused on your lunar center in the center of your chin.
Hold this position for three minutes. As you do so, breathe long, slow, and deep breaths.
Breathe in deeply and then move into the second step of this Kundalini Yoga kriya set.
Step 3: The Upward Stretch
Next, stretch your arms straight up in the air. Your palms should be facing forward. Ensure that you don’t bend your elbows.
Your eyes should be focused on your lunar center in the center of your chin.
Again, you will need to hold this position for three minutes. As you do so, ensure that your breaths are long, slow, and deep.
Breathe in and hold this breath for 10 seconds. During this time, stretch your arms upward and clench the muscles in your body.
Breathe out. Repeat this a couple of times before relaxing entirely.
