- How to do this Mantra
The Mul Mantra is technology that is available to any of us at any time. When you need to return to your most intuitive state, you can utilize the power of this chant.
There are many options available to you. You may wish to lay down a yoga mat on the ground, sit in a place of peace, and then begin your mantra.
Alternatively, some students find that it is useful to use this mantra as part of a larger exercise — perhaps a kriya, with music, or as a meditation. Decide which works for you.
Once you are ready to begin your chant, repeat the following mantra verbatim:
“Ek Ong Kaar, Sat Naam, Karataa Purakh,
Nirbho, Nirvair, Akaal Moorat, Ajoonee, Saibhang, Gur Prasaad.
Jap! Aad Such, Jugaad Such, Hai Bhee Such, Naanak Hosee Bhee Such.”
Meaning of this Mantra
To fully gain the benefits of this Kundalini Yoga mantra, it may be helpful for you to have a translation. As you utter each of the words, you should be focusing on their deep truth. With that in mind, here is an English-language translation of the complete Mul Mantra:
“There is one creator and His name is truth. He oversees and does everything, devoid of fear or vengeance.
Never was He born, nor will He die. He illuminates all and is the Guru’s gift.
Meditate! It was true in the beginning and will remain so throughout the ages of time. Even now, it is true. Oh, Nanak, it is forever true.”
The Takeaway
Now that you are comfortable with the Mul Mantra, you may choose to use it as you please. Memorize it and recite it to yourself in the times when you need it the most. Try it for yourself and see where the mantra takes you!
