Your mindset controls every aspect of your being. Within the realms of Kundalini Yoga, we believe that there are three mental bodies. Fully understanding these will help you to make better decisions and have a better outlook on life. Here’s what you need to know.
1. Protective Mind
Also known as the negative mind, the protective mind is always seeking danger. Of the three mental bodies, this is the one that seeks to look after you and ward off danger.
While the ‘negative mind’ may sound bad, the truth of the matter is that it has its place in our life. Evolutionarily speaking, there have always been plenty of dangers and threats to humans. For that reason, it was highly necessary for us to be on the lookout for issues.
You can utilize this mental body to help you set boundaries and build a life that serves you well. For example, if someone in your life is taking advantage of your kindness; perhaps your boss is asking too much of you, that’s where the protective mind steps in.
2. Projective Mind
The positive mind or the projective mind is a natural optimist. When you are tuned into this mental body, chances are you will see the sunnier side of life. You may find that you are open to new experiences, meeting new people, and presume all outcomes will be positive.
It’s not all good news. There are pros and cons to the projective mind. On the one hand, this mental body will encourage you to go for that new job or talk to a new person. However, it may not stop you from making a risky decision that could cause problems.
The answer is to balance the projective mind with the protective mind. Both of these mental bodies are entirely valid. You might think of them as the typical devil and angel on your shoulder. You must not only listen to one of them, but take note of both.
3. Meditative Mind
The third of the three mental bodies is the meditative mind. This one is sometimes called the neutral mind and is the balance between the two other mental bodies. When you tap into this mindset, you can make the best decisions for you and your lifestyle.
Needless to say, it’s not always easy to find the perfect balance. It takes time, energy, and effort. You may find that you have to work at this each and every day. Making decisions using the meditative mind means that you both protect yourself while being optimistic.
If you’re looking for ways to enhance your mindset, you can follow the Kundalini Yoga lifestyle. Practicing on a regular basis will help you to possess a neutral mindset.
