As you start to practice Kundalini Yoga, there’s one end goal in mind. Experiencing a true awakening means becoming one with the Universal Power and reaching the highest level.
No matter where you are in your personal journey, it may be helpful to learn about the three stages of a Kundalini Yoga awakening. Within this guide, we will explain everything you need to know.
Arambha (the Beginning)
The first stage of your Kundalini awakening is known as arambha. It is the time when you start to release the energy at your spine—the so-called serpent—and undergo a spiritual transformation. By engaging in Kundalini Yoga activities, you will start to cleanse the root chakra and untie the root knot.
Throughout this period, your main focus should be on Kundalini Yoga exercises. You will have to take the time to engage in daily kriyas and enhance your personal practice. These activities cause the body’s energy to vibrate at a certain frequency which spurs the change you are about to undergo.
Ghata (Cleansing Stage)
Next up, it’s the ghata stage, which is also known as the cleansing stage. This is the period in which you begin to eliminate all of the things that are holding you back in your day-to-day life. For example, you may have negative thought patterns or traumas that are preventing you from living in your truth.
For some people, this is an uncomfortable experience. While these aspects of our being may be negative, we often hold onto them for comfort. You may find that you feel an impactful transformation coming over you.
At this time, kundalini energy starts to flow freely through the Sushumna Nadi. It’s important to note that there are more than 70,000 Nadi channels within the body. The three fundamentals are Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna. As the energy changes throughout your body, it is the second of the three stages of Kundalini Yoga awakening.
Third-Eye Awakening
The third and final stage of this spiritual experience is your third-eye awakening. When you reach this level, you are one step away from obtaining a full sense of consciousness.
At this point, you have to untie the Rudra knot, which lies between the heart chakra and the third-eye chakra. When you have done that, you will start to feel a tingling sensation between your eyes where the third-eye chakra is. That is a sign that the Kundalini awakening is taking form.
When you start to experience this, you must next enter a deep, meditative state. Should you get this right, you will experience heightened Extra Sensory Powers. Focus on letting go of duality and becoming one with the universe. Reaching the full Kundalini awakening can be overwhelming but is a sense of pure freedom.
