Have you heard of the three psyches in Kundalini Yoga? If you are new to this aspect of the practice, you have come to the right place. In this guide, we will delve into what these psyches are, how they impact your life, and what you need to do to keep them in balance.
The Three Psyches You Need to Know About
The three psyches in Kundalini Yoga play a vital role in your spiritual wellness. As you may already know, we believe that there are eight centers, seven chakras and one aura.
However, the facets of your spirituality do not start and end there. Students of Kundalini Yoga also hold a strong belief that there are three psyches. Each of these psyches must be kept perfectly in balance if you want to lead your most enlightened and joyous lifestyle.
If you haven’t heard of each of the psyches, you’ve come to the right place. In this section, we will take a look at them — the individual inner psyche, the immediate environment psyche, and the landscape psyche — and further discuss what they mean in real terms.
1. Individual Inner Psyche
First up, let’s talk about the individual inner psyche. This is most closely related to you, your sense of self, and your inner identity. While the outside world exists in tandem with this, you can create a space in which they do not affect one another in a major way.
The easiest way to understand the individual inner psyche is to think of it as your internal world. The thoughts and emotions that you experience both take place firmly within its realms. Unsurprisingly, it is also where your ego dwells and where you feel the safest.
2. Immediate Environment Psyche
Next, your immediate environment psyche is exactly what it says. This is the psyche that surrounds you wherever you are. It encapsulates the connection between your aura and the seven chakras, which are located within your body. It is the space that you hold there.
Think of this psyche as an expansive zone that you hold around yourself — it moves when you do as you go from place to place. The psyche allows you to share yourself and the essence of who you are with all the people with whom you come into contact each day.
3. Landscape Psyche
The most expansive of all the psyches, of course, has to be the landscape psyche. When you have had your spiritual awakening, it is this space that allows you to connect directly with the Universal Power. Without it, you will not have the chance to reach out to it.
As you might imagine, the landscape psyche is greater and more impressive than anything that can be seen by the human eye. It is hardly worth trying to envision this massive and impressive space that expands outward into the universe at every corner.
Why do the Psyches Matter?
Now that you understand the three psyches of Kundalini Yoga, it’s time to talk about why they matter. These core psyches must be in balance so that you can create a sense of harmony in every aspect of your life — mentally, physically, and, of course, spiritually.
While Kundalini Yoga masters have placed a great deal of emphasis on the chakras and the aura, we often forget that the psyches play their role in your journey too. Without a baseline understanding of these three psyches, you will find it is hard to enhance yourself.
The psyches allow you to control the connection of the aura and the arc line. When you do that, it allows you to protect your chakras with a solid force. You can utilize that whenever you need to do so. That means that, should you open the chakras, you will be safe.
The other point to mention is that of harmony — we speak of this a great deal in the sphere of Kundalini Yoga. Many people are under the misguided illusion that love, wealth, or even material items will leave them feeling harmonious. That is simply not the case.
Should you want to reach a place of true harmony in your life and journey, you must make sure that your three psyches are balanced at all times. When they are not, it creates a dangerous paradigm and can impact all areas of your mental and spiritual health.
Signs Your Psyches Are Imbalanced
Worried that your psyches are imbalanced? If you suspect that there is a problem here, the best thing you can do is look out for some of the telltale signs, as follows:
- You feel stressed out
When your three psyches are not in balance, your stress levels will go through the roof. That is bad news. You may find that it is hard to relax and get out of your head. No matter what you happen to try — breathwork, meditation etc. — you will struggle to wind down. - You will feel restless
Are you feeling out of sorts? If the three psyches in Kundalini Yoga are not in balance, you will not be in true harmony. You may feel an urge to get up and go somewhere new when you are trying to relax, for example. You may also find that it is hard to stay still at all. - You will want to sleep
On the other hand, this restlessness will often make you tired. You may feel as though you want to get under the duvet and hide away for hours on end. That is quite normal. The three psyches impact every area of your life, and so it makes sense that you need rest.
How to Balance Your Three Psyches
Keeping your three psyches in balance can be tough. One thing you can do is make sure that you are keeping up with your Kundalini Yoga practice. Make sure that you are meditating with incense, try kriyas to keep the psyches in line, and tend to each of them. On a personal level, you also need to take care of yourself; eat well, exercise, and sleep.
