The day has begun but you have zero interest in getting started with your tasks. You’re tired. You feel lonely. And you don’t want to talk about it. While you know that you have many things to do, you simply want to crawl back into bed and hide away from the world.
Chances are, you are struggling with what yogis call “cold depression.” This mental shift can take place at any point and will stop you getting the pleasure you deserve out of life. In the following guide, we will take a look at what it is and how to manage it now.
What is Cold Depression?
First up, let’s talk about what cold depression is. This is one of the biggest challenges we face now that we are in the Aquarian Age. Since we live in an information-driven world, it is often hard to keep up. If you feel like the world is moving too fast, you’re not alone.
Cold depression happens when we fail to meet the demands of modern life and no longer have the reserves to keep up. It is a common problem. You may find that you become so numb to your own feelings that you fail to understand what is happening. For that reason, we call this type of depression “cold” as it leads to anger, isolation, and confusion.
The good news is that you are not the only person experiencing this. When cold depression hits, an entire population will feel it. That is because there is a major frequency change that happens all around the world. Much like a tide rises and falls, you will see that the depression starts to take over and encapsulates everyone who comes in its way.
How Can You Manage Cold Depression?
Now that you understand what cold depression is, let’s talk about some of the management techniques you can use. You deserve to be happy and lead the best version of your life. Of course, depression is not easily overcome. Nobody is saying that. To help you get started, here are some approaches you can try that will allow you to cope.
- Breathwork
Kundalini Yoga breathwork has known depression-relieving benefits. If you want to find a way to get back on track, you may consider using breathwork sessions to your advantage. - Meditation
For a long time, experts around the world have known that breathwork can help rid people of their depressive feelings. When you are feeling low, it is worth considering using this technique. Look for meditation practices that will support your ongoing journey here.
Kundalini Yoga Meditation for Cold Depression
While there are many ways you can try to tackle cold depression, meditation may be one angle to try. You may already be using meditation as part of your daily yogic activities.
However, there is a specific meditation for cold depression that can help you here. When you are ready to give it a go, find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. You may choose to lay down a mat so that you can be as comfortable as possible as you meditate.
Bonus tip:
Why not light some incense before you start your meditation practice? Citronella is known to lift your mood and make you feel more positive. For that reason, if you light it while you are doing this meditation, you may find that it has the effect you have been looking for.
Step 1:
Start by sitting in Easy Pose, or any position that is comfortable for you. Make sure that your back is straight before you get started.
Step 2:
For this meditation, you will need to adopt a mudra (hand position). Interlock your fingers so that the tips sit within the spaces between your fingers.
Make sure that your index fingers are pointing straight up and press them together. Your thumbs should cross in the front while you need to keep your hands at chest level.
Step 3:
When you are ready to do so, you can start chanting the mantra “Wahe Guru Wahe Jio.” You should chant the noise from your navel point and focus firmly on what each word means to you. You may find that it is helpful to listen to a recording of it while you do so.
When you chant the sound “Wha” focus on the navel point, as you move to “Hey” switch to your chest. Next, when you chant the “Gu” noise, you should put all of your attention on your lips. By maintaining this focus as you chant, you will gain the biggest benefits here.
Step 4:
Engage in this meditation for between three and 31 minutes. If you are new to this cold depression meditation, you might want to start with a low time period. You can work your way up to a longer period when you have got comfortable with the meditation.
Step 5:
Once you are ready to bring the meditation to an end, breathe in and hold your breath. For a moment, listen to the sound of the above mantra. Next, breathe out completely.
Breathe in again and hold for a moment. Focus on giving the cold depression back to the universal power or whatever you happen to believe in. Breathe out completely.
Next, you should breathe in and hold once again. Allow yourself to meditate for a moment on the beauty and preciousness of existence. As you do that, you can breathe out. Let everything that has been troubling you go with your breath and then relax entirely.
